Board of Directors

The Class A and Class B Nominating Committees accepted applications throughout the month of July for the upcoming SOA Board of Directors election.   All applications were reviewed by the respective committees and all applicants were verified and placed into nomination.  There will be two upcoming Class A vacancies with Dave Stowe and Bev Norment completing their terms on December 31, 2017.  One Class B seat will become vacant with Kitty Whitney's current term ending on December 31, 2017.

The election for both classes will take place on October 20, 2017 at the SOA Advisory Board Meeting.  For Class A, the President of each neighborhood association (or appointed Advisory Board Represenative) will receive the ballot for their respective HOA/COA that represents the number of RDU's (home/lots/condos) in good standing.  For example, if there are 100 homes in  your neighborhood, the president will recieve a ballot representing 100 votes.  For Class B, the Advisory Board Representative for the Class B member on record with the SOA office will recieve the ballot representing the number of RDU's the commerical member holds.

The candidate elects will take their seat on January 1, 2018 and serve a 3-year term.

The SOA Board of Directors is made up of 6 homeowner representatives (Class A), 2 commercial representatives (Class B) and 1 declarant representative. The Board meets monthly with most meetings being held in the SOA Main Conference Room. You can view all meeting dates by going to the Calendar page under the Community menu above. Agendas are posted 48 hours prior to the meeting date and can be found on the same link and on the home page.

In addition to attending the monthly Board meetings, Directors are also asked to chair or participate in at least one of the SOA Committees. Details on the Committee structure and responsibilities can be found on the Committees page under the Community menu.

Applications to run for the SOA Board are available in July and the election is held in October at the SOA Advisory Board Meeting.  The president of each Neighborhood Association receives and casts the ballot for their respective neighborhood.  Should you have any questions regarding the election process, please feel free to contact our office at (850) 424-5955.
