Committees

The SOA currenlty has 12 Committees that are made up of homeowner volunteers, including at least one representative from the Board of Directors and SOA staff. In Jan/Feb of each year the Advisory Board Chairman, (Vice-president of the Board of Directors) will solicit volunteers to serve on the committees and appoint a Chairman.  Committee member terms are 1 year and meetings are usually held monthly.  

The Advisory Board Chairman works closely with each Committee to ensure that issues are addressed as needed. The role of each committee is to research issues pertaining to their respective area and make recommendations for solutions to the Board of Directors. If you have a question or concern you would like addressed by one of the Committees, please email it to soa@soaowners.com and it will be forwarded accordingly.

The 2011 Chairman is listed next to each Committee and notes from recent meetings are also available by clicking on the Committee name.  Most Committees meet monthly, with some meeting less frequently.

In addition to the committees listed below, there is an Advisory Board that consists of the President of each Neighborhood Association or an executive member of the Neghborhood Association Board of Directors.   The SOA usually holds 2 Advisory Board meetings a year, one in February and one in October, with the October meeting being considered the Annual meeting in which the Board of Directors election is held.  The Advisory Board Members are responsible and authorized to cast the ballot for the SOA Board of Directors election as well as vote on other actions as proposed to the membership in accordance with our governing documents, such as amendments to the documents. A full operations update from the SOA Board and Management is provided as well as the audited financial statements and/or the budget for the following calendar year.  The President's are asked to share the information with their individual association members; however, the presentations are also available on our website following the meetings.  Minutes to these meetings can be viewed on this site under the Library/Documents menu, Meeting Minutes page.  In accordance with FL Statute, the meetings are open to all members of the association; however, only the President (or Executive Board Member representing the neighbhorhood) is authorized to sign in on behalf of the neighborhood and participate in the meeting.

Notes from the following committees are not available:
Legal Committee - The Executive Members of the Board and the SOA Executive Director sit on this committee to discuss and address any legal matters that may affect the the association.

Landscaping - This committee weeks every other week with the members and the vendors that manage the common area landscaping throughout the community.   

Nominating - In the spring the Nominating Committee will meet to set the dates for the Board of Directors election that is held in October.  The application will usually be available during the month of July.
